Awesome image, Sarah! I’ve driven through that part of Oregon a few times but never with the eyes of a photographer. Next time through I’ll be sure and allocate some time to explore.

I’m in awe….seriously. First of all that was an amazing post. I wholeheartedly agree with you. It’s true that icons will remain icons but does that mean that as a photographer we can bring our own feelings and creativity to it. Absolutely not. This image is beyond stunning. Love it and I’m glad I found your site.

Sarah, this is a gorgeous image. Having been through the Subway twice, I can agree with your sentiments about it being a very magical place, and one of my favorite canyons in Zion.

i also am reading your thoughts on the icons with great interest. I have to say that I couldn’t agree more with your thoughts. In my humble opinion, I feel that the biggest mistake people make with the icons to forsake their own creativity in chasing the perfect derivative image. I think that robs the photographer of the experience of creating an original image.

Interestingly, I will have a guest blogger tomorrow on this very subject…
